Presently, there are few schools where students can be educated in such crafts as fur, clock, frame-making, etc. These professions are usually bequeathed or taught individually to apprantices.
Having spent couple of weeks in their workshops, I learnt how time consuming and demanding was their job. Moreover, I noticed that those people, potrayed in my pictures, were characterized by hospitality and extreme precision combined with patience and devotion to their crafts. These pictures of the craftsmen were taken in Warsaw.
Dawid comes from Poland where he graduated from Annual Photojournalism
Workshop at Academy of Photography in Warsaw. Subsequently, he worked
as a photojournalist for a national daily Polska The Times and photographic agencies.
Dawid cooperated with Warsaw UNICEF, an agency Warsaw City Doping,
and Documentary Association organization. With the latter, he had his first
exhibition Virtual Champions, as a part of the collective project 20-30. His photos have been published, e.g. in a music monthly Pulp, on the official website of The Raveonettes, exhibited in Yours Gallery, Koneser Gallery,
or Fabryka Trzciny in Warsaw.
Dawid has been awarded in various photography contests: Anti-Fashion by
Antyradio and Academy of Photography, Photo Fights, Elastic Work Through The Lens, or Sounds of Music by Creative. He is an author of various photo sessions, for example, of the music band Orange The Juice.
Dawid is currently based in New York where he is doing new projects.
